Born in Detroit, MI and now calling Colorado home, King Eddie is the handle Justin Maike & Co. Their upcoming single “Anyone Could be a Killer”, to be released on Grouphug (Denver, CO) is a latin-inspired survey of Enochlophobia. Frontman Justin Maike’s often-dystopian lyrics, evocative of futurist author Philip K Dick, are woven within ecstatic rhythms and breath with comedy to the likes of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Talking Heads. King Eddie’s debut album, released in 2015 is “an absolutely beautiful and poignant ride from start to finish” (Detroit Sounds Like This). The record breathes with the anxieties and more nuanced wonders of new fatherhood and social isolation in rural iowa. Now nearly three after the band’s birth in a crumbling east-side artist collective in Detroit, King Eddie re-emerges with a new kingdom in the mile high city.
